Aditya Singh is Executive Director and Deputy Chief of Party for Program ACCELERATE at the Johns Hopkins Center for Infectious Diseases in India. He is a member of the team in New Delhi, India, and has worked with the Johns Hopkins-India infectious diseases partnership since October 2019.

Aditya presently heads the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine’s India’s HIV program ACCELERATE which is supported by PEPFAR/USAID for accelerating progress toward the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets and HIV epidemic control by 2030. Specific site-level initiatives are focused on Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Manipur, in addition to implementing a virtual platform and also providing national-level technical assistance.

The ACCELERATE program has been the first program in India to implement Pre-Risk Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), HIV Self Testing (HIV ST), integrated health center for PLHIV, and adolescent-friendly health centers (AFHC). Aditya and his team at ACCELERATE have also conceptualized and implemented the first community-led comprehensive service delivery model (HIV and non-HIV) for transgender individuals through the pioneering “Mitr” clinics.

Prior to joining CIDI, Aditya was Project Director for FHI360’s PEPFAR/CDC-supported Project Sunrise in North-eastern India (2016-2019) which was focused on innovations around “harm reduction” for people who inject drugs. From 2014-2016, Aditya headed the SRH-HIV integration portfolio for nine countries in South Asia with the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). Aditya worked with the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) from 2007-2014 in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India wherein his key achievements included leading the implementation of two consecutive program phases (NACP III & IV) for key populations programs in India and supporting legal/policy initiatives of NACO. Aditya started his career in 2005 as a research assistant with EngenderHealth.

Aditya has been serving on several policy-level technical resource (TRG) and working groups (TWG) constituted by the Govt. of India for strengthening HIV services. For e.g. TRG for people who inject drugs (PWID), men who have sex with men (MSM), and transgender individuals. TWG for integrated & comprehensive service delivery for PWID, TWG for community systems strengthening, TWG for strengthening technical support units etc.

Aditya Singh received a Masters of Arts (MA) from the Department of Sociology at Delhi School of Economics in the University of Delhi, India.
