Medical  Education- S.B.H. Government Medical College, Dhule & B.J.Govt.Medical College, Pune – University of Pune, Maharashtra, India.

Overview:
Dr.Vasudha has completed her undergraduate medical education from S.B.H. Government Medical College, Dhule,Maharashtra .A meritorious student throughout, she topped her first and  final year University examinations. She is presently working as Associate Professor of Dermatology at B.J. Government Medical College, Pune. Having completed her post-graduation in Dermatology, Venereology (including HIV) and Leprology from this premier institute, she has acquired clinical skills as well as an affinity for research. She has been instrumental in establishing the cosmetology, dermatosurgery and laser units in her institute & is equally adept at handling administrative duties and academic responsibilities. Throughout her tenure, she has been involved in innovative research in diverse areas ranging from basic immunology to therapeutics, and in due course, has developed an inspiration to undertake research in the fascinating field of TB/HIV.She has to her credit more than a dozen publications in reputed national and international journals. Her inclination towards this field stems from the fact that these diseases with profound effect on communities and nations, still continue to inflict misery on humans. Although a lot of ground has been covered globally in TB/HIV control, the journey towards achieving this elusive goal is far from over. Dr Vasudha is eager to be part of this crusade.

She believes that the paucity of reliable data on epidemiology of MDR-TB in India warrants attention. Review of literature strongly suggests that the most powerful predictor of MDR-TB is a previous history of treatment of TB with doubtful compliance.

She is keenly interested in analyzing the risk factors and identifying potential predictors for development of MDR-TB including host factors like genetic predisposition, epidemiological attributes and above  all  adherence  to treatment. She would like to indulge in studies to document and monitor compliance through alternative sampling methods.
