Correspondence: In the complex area of TB, one needs to understand that the rapid diagnostic test and control of the disease are two different issues, and there is no obvious linear relationship between these two, as envisaged by Callaway. Those who have worked at grassroots level and have a holistic understanding of the problem of TB would certainly agree that until we intervene correctly and responsibly throughout the entire pathway of TB care, starting from the onset of disease symptoms to the outcome of treatment and its aftermath, no diagnostic test in isolation will perform any miracles in TB control.
