Shatabdi Bagchi, MSW, PhD

Dr. Bagchi is the Senior Behavioural Scientist at the BJGMC-JHU Clinical Research Site in Pune, India. She has completed her Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W) and Master of Social Work (M.S.W) from the Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal, India and her PhD in Social Science from the National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. She has handled several research and intervention projects and worked extensively with several vulnerable populations including indigenous people, ethnic minorities, women and children, and migrant populations for over 8 years in various urban, rural regions of the EAG states in India. She specializes in qualitative research & mixed method research and her areas of interest are in Socio-Behavioural Health Research, Health Systems research, Maternal & Child Health and Health of the Indigenous and ethnic minorities. 

Her current projects with the Center include (1) the HATHI study, which is aimed at understanding behavioural and causal aspects of alcoholism among people with HIV/TB, designing an intervention program to address it and implementing it at study locations to assess efficacy (2) CATALYST study: Studying the acceptability of novel Moxifloxacin and Clofazimine formulations among the child with RR-TB and their caregivers.
