Tornheim Receives W. Leigh Thompson Excellence in Research Award

On March 16, 2018, the Johns Hopkins Department of Medicine awarded Dr. Jeffrey Tornheim with the W. Leigh Thompson Excellence in Research: Clinical Research Faculty Award. This honor is awarded to junior faculty in recognition of significant contributions to clinical research.


Dr. Tornheim is working with CCGHE Deputy Director Dr. Amita Gupta and Dr. Zarir Udwadia of the PD Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai, India, on improving health outcomes in the treatment of drug resistant tuberculosis among patients in India. His work is part of the expansive portfolio of TB research conducted by the Indo-JHU Clinical Research Partnership.


The award was presented during the Department of Medicine's 2018 Research Retreat in the Tilghman Auditorium on the  Johns Hopkins East Baltimore medical campus. During the retreat, Dr. Tornheim presented "Linezolid Experience Among MDR-TB Patients in Mumbai."
