Advancing Global TB Research through RePORT

Regional Prospective Observational Research for Tuberculosis (RePORT) International is a large, international tuberculosis research effort being undertaken by 4 regional consortia: RePORT Brazil, RePORT South Africa, RePORT Indonesia, and RePORT India. While each region collects and maintains its own country-specific tuberculosis data, the research of the consortia is governed by a common protocol that specifically calls for the identification reliable biomarkers that predict progression from latent TB to active TB.

RePORT India comprises 5 US institutions and 6 sites in India.  Each Indian site has its own scientific protocol, but the common protocol allows the 6 sites to collect and share tuberculosis data and specimens among them and with other researchers around the globe. RePORT India is supported through a unique bilateral Indo-US funding model by the Indian Department of Biotechnology and the US National Institutes of Health.

CCGHE has partnered with two US institutions as well as BJGMC in Pune, and the National Institute for Research and Technology (NIRT) in Chennai, to establish the Cohort for Tuberculosis Research by the Indo-US Medical Partnership (C-TRIUMPH). The C-TRIUMPH sites are looking at factors that affect treatment, progression to active TB, and TB transmission, and the emocha® mobile health platform is being used to collect data.

Our research is helping to build robust data collection and research capabilities for TB in India, which will eventually link with RePORT regional programs that are being established all over the world.
