Campaign Report

In February 2014, CCGHE launched, Building Bridges to a Healthier India, an ambitious fundraising initiative aiming to raise $25 million.

Within the first few months, donors committed more than $6 million, and the Ujala and Wyncote Foundations jointly pledged over $5 million in November 2014.

Such generous support will help sustain and expand the impact of the unique 20-year CCGHE Indo-JHU health partnership - advancing clinical research, medical education and patient care in India.

For more than two decades, our efforts have focused on supporting the development of India’s current and future health leaders. To address critical Indian health priorities, we have partnered with key Indian institutions, establishing internationally recognized health care and health research infrastructure and capacity, and our training programs have produced alumni who are leading many Indian efforts to improve the health of their citizens.

Impact of the CCGHE Indo-JHU health partnership includes:

  • HIV testing and counseling of more than 260,000 pregnant mothers

  • Protection of more than 2000 Indian infants from HIV infection

  • Training of more than 100 top Indian scientists at JHU and more than 10,000 additional Indian clinicians and scientists via our innovative online programs

  • Establishing world-renowned health research capacity that has contributed to community health improvements and important changes in WHO global health policies

  • Innovating novel mhealth emocha® tools to perform oral cancer screening, HIV treatment, and tuberculosis contact tracing

As Center directors, Dr. Bob Bollinger and Dr. Amita Gupta, lead the CCGHE Indo-JHU health partnership into its third decade, a successful campaign will enable the Center to:

  • Empower in-country leaders in global health from medical students to senior faculty

  • Expand existing Indo-JHU partnerships in clinical care, health education and research

  • Stimulate Indian scientists to generate and lead innovative and transformative research projects to optimize health improvements

  • Develop novel e-learning and mobile Health training programs that build local capacity to support clinical care, clinical training, health education, and health research

  • Diversify our support base and reduce our dependence on research grant-based funding.
