Description 


Patient is a 56-year-old male with a PMHx type 2 diabetes who presents with 4 days of progressive headache, sore throat, rhinorrhea and myalgias. 



  • Usual state of health until 4 days prior to presentation


  • Notes a retroorbital headache, +mild photophobia, no sinus symptoms


  • Following day develops sore throat, rhinorrhea


  • Day of admission awakens from sleep with rigors, vomits bilious emesis


  • Goes to work, becomes progressively weak
