Current Position  

Padum Narayan is Data Manager/Analyst at the Johns Hopkins Center for Infectious Diseases in India. He is a member of the team in New Delhi, India, and has worked with the Johns Hopkins-India infectious diseases partnership for more than two and a half years. 

He is responsible for data management and analysis activities under ACCELERATE project in India. He is providing technical assistance to NACO on various SI related activities including development of technical briefs, research and secondary data analysis plans. He is also responsible for coordinating the implementation of phase-II of NACO’s research study entitled “Exploring Hard to Reach MSM network structure and dynamics in India, a multi-centric study” with different stakeholders. He is providing technical assistance in coordination, supervision, and implementation of the program activities under Elton John AIDS Foundation grant in the state of Uttar Pradesh & Delhi. 

Past Positions  

Prior to joining CIDI, Padum Narayan worked as a Consultant (Statistics) at National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi, between 2016-2019, and led various activities including routine program data analysis to identify the drivers and emerging new pockets of HIV epidemic in India, data quality management, implementation of National Data Analysis Plan (NDAP), preparation of Epidemic Fact sheets, and coordination with stakeholders.  

Between 2014-2016, he worked as Scientist-B with the National Institute of Medical Statistics, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), MOHFW, Govt. of India, New Delhi and was responsible for the Estimation and Projection of HIV burden in India and its States and coordination of the survey work of National Integrated Biological & Behavioral Surveillance of High-Risk Groups. Between 2012-2013, he worked with NACO as Technical Officer and assisted NACO in the implementation of the national Monitoring & Evaluation strategies across the country. He also worked with Rajendra Memorial Research Institute of Medical Sciences, ICMR, MOHFW, Govt. of India, Patna, Bihar as a Research Officer in the research project entitled “Sentinel surveillance of Visceral Leishmaniasis and Pharmaco-vigilance of Miltofosine drug in the endemic areas of Bihar” between 2011- 2012.

Padum received an MS in Health Statistics from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India and a BS in Statistics & Mathematics from University of Allahabad, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India.
