Smit Receives Staff Recognition Award from Johns Hopkins Medicine

On October 21 Johns Hopkins Medicine announced Financial Manager Gabriela Smit as one of 3 recipients of the Staff Recognition Award. 

The award acknowledges Department of Medicine staff members who demonstrate measurably high standards in leadership, teamwork, can do attitude, resourcefulness, and dedication. Staff are nominated by faculty for the award.

Deputy Director Dr. Amita Gupta noted, “I have worked with many budget analysts and research program financial managers and Gabriela stands out as the very best with whom I have ever worked (of the more than ten I have interacted with). She demonstrates outstanding communication skills, can readily identify solutions, and keeps up with complex budget and regulatory environments of Hopkins, the US, India, and Africa and beyond. She demonstrates dedication at the highest level, resourcefulness that always results in a solution with a genuine smile and, importantly, knows who to contact or where to go when there is a new financial challenge or regulation. Her attitude is always positive even in the face of adversity.”
