Assessment of Depression and Anxiety among HIV-infected Adolescents in Pune, India
This study is conducted under the TREAT Asia Network and funded by amfAR.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this study is to estimate the prevalence of depression and anxiety among adolescents living with HIV in India and their determinants.
DESIGN
Cross-sectional, single time point, conveniently sampled study conducted among adolescents (10-19 years) attending the ART clinic, Pediatrics and Medicine outpatient departments of Sassoon General Hospitals, Pune. Assessments will be made using standardized tools to evaluate for depression and anxiety.
POPULATION
Adolescents living with HIV (ALWH) (n=200) aware of their serostatus, perinatally exposed uninfected adolescents (PEUA) (n=200), HIV-uninfected unexposed adolescents (HUUA) (n=200) from whom informed immediate adult caregiver consent +/- participant assent for study proceedings is obtained.
