Summary:

Among HIV-positive TB patients presenting to Médecins San Frontières (MSF) clinics in Mumbai, 78% carried MDR-TB strains, with nearly half also found to have additional drug resistance. A previously published cohort of 202 patients cared for at these MSF clinics have enrolled in a cross-sectional study to evaluate drug resistance. They have consented for drug susceptibility testing and sequencing of their isolates, and they provide a unique opportunity to abstract existing clinical data and microbiological data from a previously treated, de-identified, cross-sectional cohort and compare it to molecular techniques that provide more complete information than typically collected.
