Summary:

Injection drug users (IDUs) are a marginalized population with substantial disparities in healthcare outcomes, especially among the HIV-infected IDU population. The EXACT study, which ended in 2013, was designed to optimize time to antiretroviral treatment (ART) initiation and retention-in-care among IDUs initiating HIV treatment. CCGHE developed a novel emocha®-based mHealth application to support standard peer-administered, strengths-based case management by facilitating collection of patient-level data in real time and communication with care providers or case managers.
