Purpose

The purpose of the IeDEA MDR-TB survey is to study the clinical management of HIV patients co-infected with MDR-TB or XDR-TB from the perspective of healthcare workers in ART programs participating in the IeDEA global cohort consortium.

Specifically, we aim:

  • to describe diagnostic, referral, and treatment practices for managing HIV patients with suspected or confirmed MDR-TB or XDR-TB (overall, by region/country, and for adults/children);
  • to assess knowledge among HIV clinicians of international guidelines for treatment of HIV patients co-infected with MDR-TB or XDR-TB (overall and by region/sub-regions); and
  • to identify policy-practice gaps to adopting international guidelines (overall and by region/sub-regions).
