This study was conducted from May 2015–May 2018.
Led by Dr. Rupak Shivakoti, the primary objective was to determine the feasibility and operational logistics of collecting stool for microbiome analysis, detailed nutritional assessment using a food-frequency questionnaire for dietary intake and serum for inflammatory markers in order to determine factors that can reduce inflammation and adverse perinatal outcomes in HIV-infected and uninfected pregnant women.
